Phenomenal Woman

by Maya Angelou

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can't see
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Boobie Poem
by Kay Hope

Boobs come in all shapes and sizes
But I think big ones are best
I'd rather have whoppers
The real show stoppers
Than a couple of fried eggs on my chest

Hi My name is Karen   to my website
(still very much under construction so please bare with me)

I live in Bristol UK with my cat Elwood

I was born in Amersham Hospital, Bucks on 30 August 1967, I grew up in the same house in Penn and went to The local infant and junior schools Tylers Green First School School and Tylers Green Middle School . Then to Sir William Ramsay Secondary School I later went on to train as a nursery nurse at Aylesbury College;

After my training I worked as a Nanny for about 2 years before starting my Nurse training at Frenchay Hospital Bristol. I got my first job as a qualified nurse on one of the care of the elderly wards, we specialised in rehab and although it was heavy and hard work I really enjoyed my years there

I always wanted to get back working with children I achieved this in Jan 1995 when I started my job in neonatal intensive care in Southmead Hospital. And here I still am after many years and still loving my job and the challenges the baby’s students and parents give me. It is the only job I have ever had that has a balance between the adrenalin of intensive care that gives me the challenges I enjoy with the hands on teaching parents and watching them grow in confidence until they take their baby home.
Part of the reason I like my job so much is the variety and we are involved with many research projects both nursing and Medical based such as the The Pre term Infant Parenting Study, The DRIFT Tria, The Cooling study, TOBY Whole Body Hypothermia for the Treatment of Perinatal Asphyxial Encephalopathy., The genetic basis of brain injury in preterm infants, International Neonatal Immunotherapy Study (INIS) and United Kingdom Oscillation Study (UKOS) among others.

I have been lucky to have many different learning opportunities
RCNCongress, Study days at regional hospitals including some at Queen's Medical Centre Nottingham and Derriford Hospital Plymouth, several courses including the Baby Friendly initiative 3 day breastfeeding Management course and at The University of the West of England the Special and Intensive Care of the Newborn course for Post registration nurses and the one I always wanted my sick children's nurse qualification. When I did the Paediatric conversion course.  I hope to do further courses in teaching and assessing, counselling, Neonatal advanced life support (NALS), Infant and Child Psychology, and Neonatal Transport at some point
